X-Net – Future strategy team retreats

Goals:
The main goal of the X-Net retreats was to shape the future of the network collectively. Key focuses included getting to know each other, identifying shared values, and developing strategies for the distribution and assumption of responsibilities within the team.
Key Aspects of the Retreats:
The fast growing, innovative and pioneering IT company simply had not time for a retreat while growing and working very hard. Now the time has come. The Comapny foudners and owners wanted to offer a collective experience to their employees, so the whole team would be involved in strategy setting and create ownership of the future development.
Main Themes:
The company was gradually introduced to collaborative tools and techiques and employees learned how to apply them for peer learning.
Chaordic Principle:
It was emphasized that a balance between order and chaos is necessary to foster innovation and development. Participants were encouraged to develop personal and collective compasses to create regulations that provide clarity for the future.
Shared Purpose:
The company founders shared their very peronal founding story. Then the X-Net mission statement was discussed, considering individual goals of the members. It was emphasized that alignment between personal and collective goals is essential to maintain agility and trust.
Shaping the future:The future backwards method was used to arrive at what was best for the company in the next five years.
The concept of Communities of Practice was laid. The focus was on working together, learning together, and maintaining professional and personal relationships.
The company wanted to expand ownership to their employees.
An intensive exchange took place about the motives and expectations of participants regarding their roles as shareholders.
Review and Evaluation:
A review of previous retreat results was conducted, evaluating measures and routines to create free space for other areas.
Conclusion:
The X-Net retreats were crucial for developing a shared understanding and clear strategy for the network’s future.
