People have gathered in circles since time immemorial: to discuss important shared topics and questions, to exchange ideas, to tell stories, and to feel the warmth of community. Circle fosters listening. We can make use of this magical effect today, too.
We are delighted to welcome Christina Baldwin and Ann Linnea, two experts and pioneers of circle work, to the Bregenzer Salon. They have captured their experiences, insights and learnings from around thirty years of work in various contexts in the book "The Circle Way – A Leader in Every Chair." This book was published in September in German translation under the title "Circle – Die Kraft des Kreises."
For anyone who works with people, the workshop offers a unique opportunity to learn from the two women's decades of experience and pioneering work. Together, we will dive deep into the question of how, and in which different forms, this fundamental format underlying all participatory processes can be applied practically in the modern working world: how do we authentically bring this wonderful conversation format into different contexts of business, politics and society?
"Art of Hosting" practitioners usually know Circle as a tool for check-in and check-out. In the workshop, you can get to know its many other facets and practise them yourself: Circle can be used wherever decisions need to be carried by everyone involved. Circle has much in common with the method of Dialogue (in the Bohmian sense), but above all provides the toolkit that enables leaders, consultants and facilitators to lead highly productive conversations with a group in their daily work — including in tense situations.
We invite people interested in co-creation, self-organisation, participatory leadership and synergies. If you are already familiar with Dialogue, this Circle workshop can also be interesting for noticing the similarities or differences — or for really going deep into the possibilities.
Format
Based on the premise that Circle is best learned by "living" it, the workshop brings together a group of up to 25 people for three days of intensive, experience-based learning.
The workshop takes place in German and English, with continuous translation into German.

On circle dialogue in Vorarlberg
The Arbogast dialogue project has been running since 2006, applying circle dialogue in practice. Alongside Christina Baldwin and Ann Linnea, Ursula Hillbrand has also invited Christian Hörl, the external project lead of this dialogue project, to co-design the workshop together.

We offer different price levels: the standard price for people who will use what they learn commercially (thereby supporting students), and the reduced special price primarily for volunteer or association use. We offer a 10% reduction for people coming from the same organisation to deepen their further work there, or for participants referred by the Vorarlberg dialogue project.
There is also a reduced price for students (limited places). Please contact us to see what is possible.

Accommodation
We recommend Hotel Bodensee as accommodation within walking distance.
If you're interested in a charming holiday apartment ten minutes from the Bregenzer Salon, with a garden and small kitchen, the "Hexenhäuschen" (Little Witch's House) might be right for you. 2–3 people can stay in the cottage itself from 29 October, and 1–2 people in the double room of the main house.
