AoH Training – Communities of Practice
What does it take? Committed people who want to make a difference and share common dreams; people who want to learn from one another through collaboration and develop further together; people who want to design and effectively steer sustainable processes.
Communities of Practice have a sustainable and multifaceted impact: relationships within teams or between organisations are strengthened, communication flows improve, implicit knowledge becomes visible, and learning happens faster and more efficiently than in conventional training. Over time, a Community of Practice can move from being a community of learners to becoming a learning community, generating valuable knowledge or know-how for an organisation.
The workshop introduces the concept of Communities of Practice (based on Etienne Wenger) and illustrates it with practical examples.
Participatory dialogue formats (World Café, triad work, Circle) support participants in translating and applying the new knowledge to their own context. Throughout the workshop, each participant will recognise which ingredients they already bring for their own CoP, which are still missing, and what the next steps are.
This offering is aimed at all those who want to revive existing networks and turn them into active, effective communities, and who want to make productive use of the potential and impact of collective intelligence within their organisation.
As a keynote contributor, Ursula Hillbrand will share her rich experience in founding and nurturing Communities of Practice at the European Commission.
