AoH Training – Leading and Designing Strategic Conversations
The art of leading, designing and strategically "harvesting" good conversations. An Art of Hosting training by the Bregenzer Salon during festival season — learning in and with nature, culture and salon culture — and we won't forget to celebrate either!
What are the foundations of meaningful conversation? How do we create a space within the space where people can contribute authentically? How can we live and work with quality?
The significance of conversation is being (re)discovered — as an art, as a stance that embraces the worldview of living systems as well as an appreciation of different standpoints and starting positions.
We invite you to dive into the world of designing strategic conversations with Art of Hosting & Harvesting. Today's increasingly complex problems demand innovative solutions. Innovation arises primarily at the boundary between order and chaos — not under tight control. But how do you navigate small and large groups through such a highly creative space?
When these solutions are found together, in conversation, by the groups affected, they become more comprehensive and find broader support.
Otto Scharmer's Theory U is as much an ingredient of the method set as World Café, Open Space and Circle. At the centre is the “Hosting Self” — being a good host to yourself, being present. “The quality of our attention influences the quality of our results,” says Otto Scharmer. In this training, you learn how to approach others authentically and invite them, as a matter of course, into this special space within the space — where presence is not just possible, but necessary.
The art of leading good, and also strategic, conversations was brought to life organically around ten years ago as “Art of Hosting Conversations That Matter,” and is now practised successfully and continually developed worldwide by a growing number of people across diverse professional fields.
Art of Hosting can be applied wherever people want and need to contribute authentically — citizens' initiatives, team meetings, association gatherings, intergenerational dialogue, the constructive exchange of participants from different parts of society or within an organisation, or in times of upcoming change.
Come and be inspired by the lively, life-affirming approach of Art of Hosting. This is not a theoretical training but a practical, experiential one — and only through that experience can it be applied and carried forward just as vividly.
The art of process design, “Art of Designing,” once a shared purpose is clear, needs to be well learned and practised. Introductory trainings often leave little time to go into depth here. On 23 July, we are opening our Design Day, so that hosts who already have some experience can experience process design up close, without sharing the full responsibility that comes with being part of a hosting team. It is possible to attend just the Design Day, or to also join individual days or the full training.
You can find a participant experience report here.
